Settle

Settle has one of the best chippy’s in the North of England (says me), a market full of characters (with some great faces!), a honeycomb of interesting streets, walks both long and short and you aren’t far from a cracking little waterfall, which is a perfect spot for Summer picnics (the sun needs to be high in the sky to even touch this sunken treasure).

Heading steeply up out through aptly named Upper Settle, and onto High Hill lane (which is the road to Airton and Kirby Malham), its a half hour schlep from Settle to Scaleber Force. If walking doesn’t appeal, there are limited parking spots on High Hill Lane – more further back towards Settle if you are prepared to walk at least a few hundred yards.
