Preston North End Deepdale

Deepdale: PNEnd of an Era
Preston North End’s Deepdale football ground. Last night of the Pavillion Paddock. Atmospheric match day image of Deepdale. A group of young Preston supporters represent times past that will never return.

By complete coincidence, when I turned up to shoot Preston North End’s Deepdale football ground some years ago, it was the last night that the Pavillion Paddock was open to Preston supporters as a working football stand, which, at the time, was the oldest surviving stand in the football league.
To sign the Pavillion Paddock off in fitting style, an amazing sunset lit up the night sky above Deepdale.
What an amazing sunset. Bet you haven’t seen many like that?’ I nodded to a passing fan, who’d been a Preston supporter for over 50 years.
We all believe the almighty is from Preston and looks after his own at North End‘, he quipped with a twinkle.

Pavillion Paddock, Deerpdale, Preston. End of an Era, on the last night the Pavillion Paddock was used as a working football stand.

Amazing sunset over Deepdale football ground. Sky TV cameraman films the match.

Amazing sunset over Deepdale football ground, Preston. The absence of the fourth stand made this shot possible, and the Sky TV cameraman up on his perch would no doubt also remember this sunset. This scene will never be repeated (even if this sunset appeared twice!).
